Bangladesh Oscar Committee has nominated Aha, a full-length feature film by Enamul Karim Nirjhar, for the 81st Academy Award 2008 (Oscar), world's most prestigious award, in Foreign Language Film category.

This was disclosed at a press briefing organised by Bangladesh Federation of Film Societies (BFFS) at Hotel Sheraton in the city on Thursday.

Habibur Rahman Khan, Chief of the Nomination Committee and Chairman of BFFS, Faridur Reza Sagar, Managing Director of Impress Telefilm Ltd, members of the Committee Azad Rahman, Prof Abdus Selim, Abu Musa Debu, Shawkat Jamil and Rokeya Prachi, among others, were present at the conference.

Habibur Rahman said, "We got few films for nomination because of technical requirements for the award. The major causes in this regard are absence of subtitles, quality printing and music."

The 128-minute film 'Aha' has been produced and sponsored by the Impress Telefilm Ltd and Banglalink, a mobile phone operator company.

Featuring the story of a family living in old Dhaka, Aha zooms in on the different issues which the city-dwellers face everyday, like unplanned urbanisation, generation gap and many more.

Saiful Islam Badal has done cinematography, while music Debjyoty Misra does arrangement. Tarreq Anam Khan, Ferdous, Sathi Yasmin, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Progga Laboni, Shahidul Alam Sachchu, Khaled Khan and Gazi Rakayet performed in various roles in the film.

The committee chose Aha out of two films. The other one was Shawkat Jamil's 'Ekjan sange chhilo.' Bangladesh nominated films like 'Matir moina' in 2003, 'Shaymal chhaya' in 2005, 'Nirantar' in 2006 and 'Swapnadanay' in 2007.

The creative team behind the upcoming romantic comedy "He's Just Not That Into You" is teaming up again for another laugh-infused romance. New Line has picked up the rights to former writer "Sex and the City" writer Liz Tuccillo's best-selling novel "How to Be Single" for Drew Barrymore's production company.

The book follows the dating lives of five single New York women, one of whom, the narrator, is writing a book about how bachelorettes across the world manage. The woman embarks on a trip around the world for the book and gets involved in an international affair, while her four friends duke it out on the New York dating scene. The book was published in June.

Barrymore and production partner Nancy Juvonen will produce, setting Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn to adapt.

Juvonen and Barrymore are producing "Into You," which Silverstein and Kohn adapted from a nonfiction tome written by Tuccillo and Greg Behrendt. With the strong box office performance of 'Sex and the City' this year and the scheduled February 6 release of "He's Just Not That Into You," New Line is hoping to keep its female-skewing, romantic-comedy streak going with 'How to Be Single.'

The bigmouth of Bollywood Rakhi Sawant wants to marry Salman Khan. The actress declared it publicly on the recent show 'Dus Ka Dum', hosted by Salman.

It is a known fact that Katrina Kaif is not willing to marry Salman at this juncture of her career. But that doesn't mean this hunk is running short of proposals. On the finale of Salman's show, Rakhi confessed her liking for Salman and even presented him a ring. The whole incident and event left Salman speechless. He was shocked.

It may be recalled that Salman was disappointed by Rakhi's walkout from 'Nach Baliye 3' after she and Abhishek Awasthi lost the contest, where Salman was a guest. He tried to calm her down, but only in vain. Salman, not bothered about that incident, invited her for his show, where Rakhi showed him her dum.
