1.25 kg heroin recovered in Dinajpur

Members of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) recovered 1.25 Kg heroin from a mail train at Birampur Charkai in the district on Saturday.
BDR sources said, a team led by Deputy Commander (40 Rifle Battalion) Major Zaidi raided a Khulna bound mail train and recovered two packets heroin from a 1st class compartment in the train.
The recovered heroin worth about Taka one core two lakh fifty thousand, the sources said.
Death anniversary of Dr Ibrahim observed
UNB, Dhaka
The 19th death anniversary of the founder of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh and former National Professor Dr Mohammad Ibrahim was observed on Saturday.
At a commemoration meeting at BIRDEM in the city, Brig Gen (retd) MA Maleq, special assistant to the chief adviser, said Dr Ibrahim sacrificed his life for the human kind.
The association also observed the day as "service day".
To mark the day, the association placed wreaths at the grave of the late doctor and held milad mahfil at Banani graveyard.
The association tested patients for diabetes at free of cost from 8am to 11am at different city points, distributed food among poor patients and held discussion meeting on the disease.
National prof Brig Gen (retd) A Malik, Maj Gen (retd) Prof A R Khan, DAB president, Prof A K Azad Khan, BIRDEM Director General Maj Gen Prof Ziauddin Ahmed also attended the commemoration meeting.
Dr Iajuudin greats Zardari

President Dr Iajuddin Ahmed has congratulated the newly elected President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari.
