Exhibition: Nakshikantha show ends Entertainment Report An exhibition of 80 rare pieces of the country's traditional embroidered 'Nakshikantha' was held at the Nalinikanta Bhattashali Gallery of the National Museum in the city. The show ended recently. To celebrate the 95th founding anniversary of the National Museum, the authorities have organised the show. The museum authorities displayed some pieces of over century-old 'Nakshikantha' taking from their collection. Besides, 'Asan-kantha,' 'Bochka-kantha,' 'Lep-kantha,' 'Sujani-kantha,' 'Nakshi-kantha' as cover of pots and other kinds which were collected from different parts of the country are also on display. Most of these had floral designs, while some show mythical figures and rural life of the Bengal. Artistes of the kanthas had depicted women working at the yards, bringing water from river while men working at the paddy fields, raring cattle and doing other jobs. According to the museum authorities, they have over 1,000 pieces of 'Nakshikantha' in their collection.
