Road safety for minors
Unless one personally and physically comes, visits and crosses Folder Street, Wari at Dawn Garment Factory/Sher-e-Bangla School point of Jatrabari-Gulistan one-way traffic road from Rajdhani Market-Salahuddin Hospital-Balda Garden corner to Super Hotel-Jaikali Mandir Road corner he/she can never imagine, believe, feel and experience under what terrible and dangerous situation and high risk of life hundreds of school children are crossing Folder Street, Wari, to attend their school/Sher-e-Bangla School in the morning and returning back home in the afternoon amid hundreds of fast moving motor vehicles- buses, trucks, taxis, motor-cycles, CNG scooters and cars.
There is not a single Zebra crossing, foot overbridge, underground passage, road signal 'Walk' 'Don't Walk', no sign-board 'School ahead, move slowly, or speed limit sign- board, no road island on the one way busy road traffic, no traffic police posted there to control the horrible running motor vehicles for the safety and security of Sher-e-Bangla School children.
Over past several years we have drawn the kind attention of Dhaka City Corporation, Dhaka Motropolitan Police and others concerned to the prevailing dangerous situation. Many pedestrians killed, some students injured but nobody cares to take any necessary action or to do any work.
We wonder who is the competent authority for safety and security of school children crossing the road.
Would the competent authority look into the relevant matter and do the needful without further negligence of duty and responsibility?
