The prize distribution ceremony of the Inter-Area Qirat and Azan Competition-2008 of Bangladesh Army was held at the Army Central Mosque at Dhaka Cantonment after Jumma prayers on Friday.

Savar area team clinched the title, while Army Signal Brigade team became runners-up in the meet, an ISPR press release said.

In Qirat competition, Sergeant Md. Shafiqul Islam of Savar area team won the first prize, while Sergeant Md. Imdadul Islam of 14 Independent Engineer Brigade team got the second prize.

In Azan Competition, Warrant Officer Md. Babul Akhter Mollik of Army Signal Brigade team became first, while Lance Corp. Md. Ashiqur Rahman of Bogra area team bagged the second prize.

The top two prize-winners recited verses from the Holy Quran and rendered Azan on the occasion.

Quarter Master General Lt. Gen. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury attended the function as the chief guest and distributed prizes among the winners.

Among others, principal staff officers of Army Headquarters, army officers, a large number of soldiers and musullis were present.
