One person was sentenced to life term imprisonment for raping a girl at Chatkhil five and a half years ago.

Judge of the Women and Child Repression Prevention Court Monir Ahmed Patwary pronounced the verdict in a crowded courtroom on Tuesday. The convict was identified as Joynal Abedin, 60, grandfather of the victim. The prosecution story in brief, is that, Joynal Abedin raped his teenage grand daughter on April 27, 2003 taking the chance of her staying alone at home. Victims father Harun-ur-Rashid filed a rape case with Chatkhil police station.
