Aussie education exhibition begins in city

A two-day long Australian Education Exhibition jointly organised by the Australian Trade Commission of the Australian High Commission and IDP Education began at the Sheraton Hotel yesterday.

A total of 12 leading Australian universities are participating in the exhibition.

Douglas Foskett, Australian High Commissioner to Dhaka, inaugurated the exhibition.

Addressing the inaugural session, Douglas said Australian universities and educational institutions were enjoying international reputation for excellence in teaching and research for having a strong commitment to quality, equity, high academic standards and programmes.

"More than 5,000 Bangladeshi students are now studying in Australia," he said and added that Australia appreciates that "Bangladeshi students and their families have recognised the merit of Australian education."

Mostafizur Rahman, Business Development Manager of Austrade and Sharif Rahman, country Director of IDP Education were also present.
