Police arrested a total of 29 persons on different charges from various places in the district during the last 24 hours ending at noon on Wednesday.

Police sources said the arrested persons include absconding convicts, warrantees and accused persons in different cases, listed terrorists, smugglers, drug-peddlers, muggers, thieves, extortionists and others.

Police also recovered huge quantities of stolen and robbed goods, ganja, phensidyl, locally produced fermented wine and other illegal goods during the drives. Kotwali police arrested absconding convict Abdul Baki, of village Rotirampur in Sadar upazila in a sudden drive conducted last night.

Of the arrested, Kotwali Police arrested 12 persons, Gangachara one, Taraganj one, Badarganj three, Mithapukur three, Pirganj six, Pirgacha one and Kawnia Police arrested two persons during the period, the sources said. The arrested persons were sent to jail hajat when police produced them before different Rangpur courts today, the sources added.
