One person was arrested for repressing his wife for dowry at Dhubaura upazila in the district on Wednesday.

The arrested person was identified as Shanchoy Sarder, upazila coordinator of Centre for Integrated Social Development, a non-government organisation.

His wife Toma Das made allegation to the Dhubaura thana police that her husband Shanchoy Sarder beat her mercilessly for dowry and as a result four of her teeth broke. Police arrested Shanchoy Sarder and sent him to jail hajat. A case was filed against him under the Women Repression Prevention Act.
