Two minor boys were drowned in a pond in the frontier village of Chhit Dashiar Chhara under Fulbari Upazila in Kurigram district on Monday, sources said. The sources said one Bayezid Mian, 5, son of Zobed Ali and his friend Masud, 5, son of Mostafa of the village were drowned in a pond while playing there beyond the knowledge of their parents and neighbours.

At one stage, floating body of Bayezid was found in the pond when the villagers started searching for another missing boy Masud. Later, the villagers also discovered body of Masud from the same pond water in the afternoon.

The tragic deaths have shocked the local villagers and police urged the common people to take special care of their minor babies at this period of the year when seasonal rain water is available all around, the sources said.
