An octogenarian was killed in a road accident at Taliapara area on Bakshiganj-Sanandabari road under Bakshiganj upazila on Wednesday afternoon.

The dead was identified as Bhulu Hawlader, 80, of Bashtoli village under Dewanganj upazila in the district. Police said Bhulu Hawlader was hit by a speeding motorcycle at Teliapara spot of the road.

Police seized the motorcycle but the rider managed to escape the scene soon after the accident. The body was sent to Jamalpur General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
