The National Mourning Day was observed on 15th August in Rupganj in Narayanganj at state level. Awami League and its front organisations observed the month of mourning by holding various programmes.

The national flag was hoisted half mast. On the occasion, a discussion meeting was held at Mazina Para Govt Primary School premises with Chairman of Kaitpara union in the chair.

A.K.M Safiullah (Rtd) Army chief, AL leaders Anwar Hossain Mollah, Arafat Ali, Majira Alam Tutul, Sazzad Hossain Juhin, Giasuddin Babul, student league leaders Tanvir Alam Faysal, Iqbal Mahmud Tuku, among others addressed the meeting. Later they offered Fateha and distributed food among the destitute. Besides, special prayer was also offered for the salvation of the departed ouls of those who were killed along with Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15, 1975.
