The bail orders of 10 prominent figures were upheld by the Supreme Court yesterday.

A regular bench of the court's Appellate Division, comprising five judges led by Chief Justice MM Ruhul Amin, upheld High Court bails granted in separate cases to former BNP secretary general Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, former minister M Shamsul Islam, former minister engineer Mosharraf Hossain, former adviser for energy Mahmudur Rahman, former lawmaker MH Selim and industrialist MA Hashem.

Also having their bail orders upheld were former APS to the prime minister during Sheikh Hasina's term Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, GATCO director Syed Galib, DCC mayor Sadeque Hossain Khoka's wife Ismat Ara and Prof Rafiqul Islam's wife Nurun Nahar Lily.

The High Court previously granted them bail in separate cases on different dates.
