A female garments factory worker was hacked to death by a youth near Malibagh Chowdhurypara Matir Masjid in the city yesterday morning.

Family sources said Morshed, an employee of a bakery, hacked Rubi Akter, 18, indiscriminately when she was going to the garments factory at Malibagh Choudhurypara at about 7.30 am, leaving her critically injured.

She was rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries at about 8.15 am.

Morshed recently gave a marriage proposal to Rubi. But on Sunday, Rubi's father asked him not to come to their Purba Goran's house again as Rubi refused to marry him.

At this Morshed became furious and killed Rubi, family sources said.
