Correspondence with the Queen RECENTLY one of my friends who live in abroad asked me whether I have stopped correspondence with the Queen of Britain. He made this question as he was not finding my write-ups in our national English language dailies on the Queen or about the royal family. My friend also wanted to know about the outcome of the long correspondences I have been maintaining with Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain. Well, I have been making correspondences with the Queen for the last several years. Besides sending letters of felicitation to the Queen on various occasions, I have been making correspondences to Her Majesty covering various issues of humanitarian values and matters relating to international peace, stability and friendship. Of course I have written so many letters describing various socio-cultural aspects of Bangladesh and informing Her Majesty about our national events. Till today I have been maintaining correspondence with the Queen. As there are some protocols, Her Majesty The Queen answers to my correspondences through passing directives to her officials. The outcome of the correspondence is marvelous. Firstly, Her Majesty always pays due attention to my letters and I have received official replies to all these. Isn't this a great accomplishment for me? Secondly, in some cases, the Queen was very pleased to forward my letters those contained important issues to the concerned Secretaries of the British Government. And finally, I succeeded in making Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II greatly acquainted with Bangladesh, its people and culture. In fact, I sincerely admire the British Monarch mainly because she listens to her people, share their joys and sorrows as a great benefactor. In the international arena, the Queen has been contributing towards establishing peace and friendship among the nations. I deeply feel that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is the people's Queen and she is the 'National Prestige' of Britain! I sincerely wish a long and active life for the benevolent Queen!
