Rajshahi Krishi Unnyan Bank (RAKUB) has decided to distribute Taka 46.63 crore as loan for boosting rural economy and as well as generating employment in the current fiscal year (2008-09).

The RAKUB regional office at Kurigram will disburse the loan through its 20 branches for crop production, fish cultivation, rearing livestock, purchasing agriculture and irrigation equipment, setting up medium scale industrial units and poverty alleviation.

Of the total allocation, Taka 31.55 crore has been earmarked for crop production, Taka 16 lakh for fish cultivation, Taka 1.78 core for rearing livestock, Taka 39 lakh for agriculture and irrigation equipment, Taka 11 for small industrial units, Taka 9.48 crore for ongoing credit activities, Taka 45 lakh for agro- industrial units and Taka 2.81 crore for different sub sectors of poverty alleviation.

The RAKUB, as part of the programme, distributed more than Taka 1.42 crore among 547 borrowers in July.
