Fishermen abducted, nets, fishes looted UNB, Bagerhat Bandits looted fish and fishing nets worth Tk 10 lakh from 21 trawlers in the Bay of Bengal on Thursday and Friday injuring 15 fishermen. They also abducted 20 fishermen demanding Tk 5 lakh ransom. Fishermen, who returned from the Bay, said the gang numbering 15/16, dividing into several groups, looted four trawlers on Friday night and 17 others on Thursday night when they were fishing in Kochikhali, Dublar Char, Narikelkora, Gabtola, Padmashuli and Chardoani areas of the district. They said the pirates beat up and injured 15 fishermen when they tried to resist them. Commander of Coast Guard Mongla West Zone Captain Abidur rahman said that coast guards were conducting drives at different areas to arrest the pirates.
