Barisal Divisional Livestock Department facing problem in fulfiling targets due to shortage of manpower in 120 posts.

Barisal divisional livestock department sources 26 out of 40 upazila livestock officer posts are vacant and rest 14 officials are doing the jobs of 40 ULO. The only post of manager of poultry firm is also vacant 13 Assistant Livestock officials are doing the works of 40 AULO in 40 upazilas of the division.

Thirteen out of 40 posts of compounders, one out of 3 poultry technicians, 10 out of 50 office assistants, 9 out of 40 dressers 20 out of 50 office peons, one out of 2 assistant engineers, 4 out of 6 veterinary surgeons in district veterinary hospitals and 5 out of 5 veterinary surgeons in divisional veterinary hospitals are lying vacant since long days. Besides 8 posts of field assistants,5 posts of filed assistant artificial reproduction sectors,2 upper division assistants, one driver and 3 night guard posts under divisional livestock office also vacant.

Due this acute shortages of manpower not a single project out of 18 projects of this office achieved target in last fiscal and same would be happened in current fiscal if sufficient work forces would not be deployed immediately, said A K M Nazmul Hasan, Deputy Director of Barisal Divisional Livestock Office.
