SAU's location

This refers to a letter of Prof. SAM on the subject in a national daily on 11 August 2008. It now appears from the letter, the learned professor is in favour of preserving, in a sense, the dead body of SAU (Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University) at its present location -and not a living SAU along with its historical significance at that location, enabling SAU to continue to operate, to attract opportunities, to build upon opportunities and to recycle opportunities (to mention a few) from the epicenter of country's policy-making and developmental programming in pursuits of for example and as appropriate maximizing the return on investment in pertinent areas and minimizing local, as well as national wastage through the foreseeable future.

Protest women repression

In this week two good news can make our women happy. On august 8, a writ petition to high court from our women lawyer association specially by learned Advocate Fouzia Karim against sexual harrasment in educational institutes. We are happy that learned high court also take it positively and ask the government to take necessary steps regarding this sensitive issue. Another is happened also on same day at Pirganj under Rangpur district, when hundred of stuedents, teachers and peoples representatives had vowed to root out all sorts of repression, violence against women through creating mass awareness.

It was held with joint venture from Paribarik Nirjatan Protirodh Jote (PNPJ) and Gana Unnayan Kendra (GUK). Most important side this type of noble initiatives was from upazila level. Such a grass root consciousness would be a great advantage against women repression.

These two events obviously give strength to our girls who have been protesting against women repression for a long time in educational institutes. My heartful thanks and respects to all initiators, obviously it will favour our women development. Lastly i would like to say for our women, " yesterday is gone, tomorrow has not come, we have only today. Let us begin."
