16 hurt in joypurhat road mishap

Joypurhat, Aug 9 : At least 16 members of a bridal party were injured in a road accident on Joypurhat-Bogra Highway at Taltoli in Khetlal upazila Friday. Witnesses said a CNG-run pick up van, carrying the bridal party, rammed into a roadside tree in the afternoon as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving 16 people injured. The injured were admitted to the Sadar Hospital. Of them Ismail was shifted to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital following the deterioration of his condition. The bridal party was going to Chaksham village in Sadar upazila of the district from Mokamtala village in Bogra district. report UNB.

Drug peddler arrested with Yaba tablets in N'ganj

Narayanganj, Aug 6 : Police arrested a drug peddler along with 190 Yaba tablets from a bus at Shimrail crossing in Siddhirganj upazila on Tuesday night. The arrested was identified as Javed, 29, son of Kabir Ahmed of Firingibazar area of Comilla Sadar upazila. Acting on a tip-off, Siddhirganj thana Sub-Inspector Ashraf Hossain raided the Dhaka-bound bus of Tisha Paribahan coming from Comilla and recovered the sex stimulating tablets from his possession. Teacher sentenced to two years for cheating in Gopalganj

Gopalganj, Aug 9 : A court here on Thursday sentenced a college teacher to two years rigorous imprisonment for the crime of forging certificate and cheating. Chief Judicial Magistrate Dilip Kumar Bhoumik also fined the convict Sri Krishna Baruri Tk 3 lakh, in default, to suffer three months RI more. Sri Krishna Baruri joined the Jolirpar Bangaratna College in Muksudpur upazila as lecturer showing fake certificates in August 1986.
