Robbers stormed into a house in Dibuapur area of the district town and looted cash and valuables worth Tk 5 lakh on Tuesday midnight.

Sources said the bandits numbering 10/12 entered into the rented house of Nannu Mridha breaking the door open and took the house inmates hostage at gun point. They later looted Tk 1.75 lakh in cash, gold ornaments, mobile phone sets and other valuables from the house.

Hearing the hue and cry of the inmates' police and local people chased the robbers while fleeing and arrested five of them. They were identified as Sujib and Hasan of Barguna, Babul Sardar of Pirojpur and Arif and Aminul of Shariatpur district.
