Sylhet City Corporation polls: AL gets 13 posts of councillors, BNP 9 BSS, Sylhet The winning candidates in the posts of councillors in August 4 elections in Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) have started expressing their gratitude to the voters going door to door, as they could not bring out victory processions. Some of the councilors-elect organised 'milad mahfils' to express gratitude to the Almightily Allah for their victory. Besides clinching the mayoral post, the Awami League-backed candidates have bagged 13 posts of general councillors in the SCC while the BNP leaning candidates got nine and Jamaat-e-Islami three posts. Two independent candidates have also been elected councillors. Of the five reserved seats for women, the Awami League nagged five posts of the councilors while the BNP the remaining four. The Awami League backed councillors are: Abdul Khaleq, Ward No: 3, Mohiuddin Lokman, Ward No :7, Jagadis Das Ward No: 8, Mokhlesur Rahman Kamran, Ward No: 9, Abdur Rakib Babul, Ward No: 11, Faizul Anwar Alaol, Ward No: 17, ABM Zillur Rahman Ujjal, Ward No: 18, Azadur Rahman Azad, Ward No: 20, Sazzadur Rahman Sujjad, Ward No: 21, Saleh Ahmed Selim, Ward No: 22, M Shajahan, Ward No: 24, and Ashik Ahmed (Ward No 25). The BNP leaning candidates elected as councillors are: Rezaul Hassan Lodi, Ward No: 4, Farhad Chowdhury Shamim, Ward No: 6, Saleh Ahmed Chowdhury (Ward No 10), Sikandar Ali (Ward No 12), Abdur Rahman Mahdi, Ward No: 14, Mujibur Rahman Mujib, Ward No: 15, Dinar Khan Hashu, Ward No: 19, Hazi Faruq Ahmed, Ward No: 23, and Selim Ahmad Roni, Ward No: 26.
