Bollywood: Meera pledges return to Bollywood
Entertainment Desk
The curly haired petite Meera Vasudevan mesmerised the audiences with her very first film 'Rules: Pyaar Ka Superhit Formula' in 2003. The actress was an overnight sensation and offers from big wigs kept pouring in.
She was even one of the strong favourites for the most promising actress of the year. Since Meera believes in sticking to her roots and culture, she didn't give in to movies that would require her to dance around a pole or be skimpily clad. The actress took it real steady and in 2007 was pitched in for Ken Ghiosh's 'Chain Khuli Ki Mein Khuli' alongside Rahul Bose. Then much later came 'Thodi Life Thodi Magic'. Though the film bombed at the box office, Meera walked away with rave reviews such that even the likes of Ashutosh Gowarikar expressed his views of the same.
Now with awards for best Tamil actress and awards for her performance as Mohanlal's wife in the path breaking 'Thanmatra', Meera is set to repeat this with bollywood. Though there are immense substantial roles pouring in from the big wigs of the south, Meera is all set to hit it big in Bollywood. She still believes that in an era of sex bombs such as Bipasha Basu and Kareena Kapoor, there is still enough room for her.
Carla Bruni album's 'sexually changed' lyrics
French President Nicolas Sarkozy's pop star wife Carla Bruni has hit back at critics who have panned sexually charged lyrics of her new album. Conservatives claim some of Bruni's songs about drugs and sex on her latest album Comme Si de Rien N'etait (As If Nothing Had Happened) are inappropriate for the wife of a government official. In one song, the singer compares being in love to an addictive drug, singing: "You are my drug/More deadly than Afghan heroin/More dangerous than Colombian white."
The lyric has been lambasted by Colombia's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fernando Araujo, who insisted the illegal drug link is "painful" for Colombia, and shouldn't feature in a song by the wife of a world leader. But Bruni insists she isn't fazed by the uproar, and finds it flattering people still listen to her music. -Agency
"It doesn't bother me much. It's actually nice to have people searching for a meaning (in my lyrics). At least they read them," Contactmusic quoted her, as saying.
"It's a song about love addiction, when people just go crazy, you know? I know it can be taken in other ways, but in the end, all the songs can speak for themselves," she added.
