Event: Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha’s musical programme ends: To mark Tagore’s death anniversary

Entertainment Report The two-day musical programme organised by Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha was ended at the Shawkat Osman Auditorium of the Central Public Library on Thursday to mark the 67 the death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore. The programnme was inaugurated by veteran Tagore artiste Kalim Sharafi, President of the Shilpi Sangstha, on August 6. The inauguration of the two-day programme with a performance of the National Anthem by the artistes of the Shilpi Sangstha. It was followed by a chorus of the song 'Aguner poroshmoni chhoao praaney.' Artiste Kalim Sharafi said, "Rabindranath is very much present in our hearts, thoughts and in our lifestyle. As we are experiencing a cultural unrest now, we can delve deeper into Tagore's words to find the strength to counter it." Tapan Mahmud, General Secretary of the Shilpi Sangstha, in his opening speech said, "Efforts have been made to remove Tagore from our national life several times, but they did not succeed as Tagore is an integral part of the Bengali life. As long as the nation exists, Tagore will continue to shape our mind." Then artiste Lily Islam rendered 'Bandhu roho roho shathey,' followed by Neelotpaul Sadhya's performance of 'Jibon moroner shimana chharaye.' Artistes Mahiuzzaman Chowdhury, Iffat Ara Dewan, Hashi Biswas, Aniket Acharya, Sumaiya Farah Khan, Bishnu Mandal, Seema Sarker and other artistes also performed at the programme. Artistes of Tagore musical organisations - Geetanjali, Surer Dhara, Rabi Raag and Baitalik - presented chorus songs at function. Rtv aired the programme of the first day on live.
