Grooming tips for grooms

Farizaa Sabreen

The wedding is a big event for the groom. Don't forget the groom in all the excitement. The groom does have many responsibilities.

Get Dressed

The groom should select his formal wear based on the formality of the wedding. For a semi-formal or formal wedding, the groom will need a tuxedo. A tuxedo is the formal jacket worn by men on special or formal occasions. The most popular colors are black, white, and gray. Remember darker colors for a fall or winter wedding and lighter colors for a spring or summer wedding.

If you're a shorter guy, stick to single-breasted jackets - double-breasted jackets will give you that drowning-in-fabric look and make you appear smaller. If you're bigger around the middle, wear a lower-buttoning jacket rather than one with a higher placket. It will give you the long silhouette you're looking for.

Ethnic Wear

Ethnic outfits, like an open sherwani adds just the right touch. Or even just a traditional silk kurta and churidar in cream. A classic Sherwani can be worn with jodhpur pants, pyjamas/ aligadhis or a churidar. Or even a straight parallel cut pair or trousers.

Western Wear

You could wear a suit and make it a black-tie affair. The suit is still the strongest contender for groom wears, but the colours chosen are what brings the suit to modern times.

Accessories
