Exhibition: Subconscious coincidence: Painting exhibition of 7 young artists
Artworks of the participant artists Sheikh Arif Bulbon “Art is the only aesthetic way to express creative urges. In a fastest communicative world, we get baffled apprehending the deepest subconscious stream of human behaviours. Where will the art place itself in a finance-struck globe-in coincidence or in subconscious mind, or along the misty borderline of the two critically defined states? It is obvious a scared attempt for soulful creation will remain untouchable to the material world. As the common sights often misidentify it, so the subconscious-shade appears and challenges the ultra-violate brains. And of course the border for argument then disappears by itself. An open wide entrance toward the creative world unlocks itself. We get lost into the hypnotising premise of creative sphere. We keep floating in an unquestionable state or endeavour into a search to unveil the ultimate aesthetic truth," said Silvia Nazneen, main coordinator, one of the participants in the exhibition and also student of MFA (1st Part) in Drawing and Painting at the Institute of Fine Art (IFA) of Dhaka University, about the theme and concept of the exhibition titled 'Subconscious Coincidence' at Drik Gallery in the capital. The exhibition sponsored by ABN Group was inaugurated on August 1. Artist and cartoonist Rafiqun Nabi inaugurated the show as chief guest. It is mentioned that speciality of the exhibition is all the participant artists are female and also students of the IFA of Dhaka University. The seven participant artists are - Silvia Nazneen, Farjana Ahmed Santa, (MFA 1st Part - Graphic Design), Naznine Zobaida (MFA 1st Part - Sculpture), Rudaba Mohsin (MFA 1st Part - Graphic Design), Shimu Roy (MFA 1st Part - Graphic Design), Farhana Ferdausi (MFA 1st Part - Crafts) and Mehreen Zaman Khaled (MFA 1st Part - Crafts). As a human being to express myself art is one of the dominating form. From the very beginning when the civilization started women played a vital role simultaneously with men. But in reality most of the male dominating society does not recognise the contribution of the females. From this realisation the seven young female artists have started their journey to express their emotions, thoughts and expressions through their works in this exhibition. This is their first group exhibition. A total of 52 artworks of seven artists are being displayed in the exhibition. Various media including drawing, pen and ink, pencil, crayon, watercolour, oil colour, acrylic, etching, tapestry and boutique are found in the show. Despite the participant artists are young, but they have their inner world and vision to realise the natural beauty, emotions and thoughts as human being. This would help them to explore them in the long run. They should get encouragement for their journey in the art arena that will present us some extraordinary talent artists in future. The exhibition will end on August 10. The gallery remains open from 3:00pm to 8:00pm everyday.
