A dacoity was committed in a Dhaka bound mail train from Bahadurabad ghat station at place between Jamalpur and Nandina rail station early on Saturday morning.

Government railway police sources said, a group of armed gang shortly after leaving the Jamalpur railway station attacked the passengers at 5 am.

They looted valuables of passengers of number-8 down mail train. They also forcibly fell down on duty Ansar Helal Uddin, 35 and a hawker Jahangir Alam, 30, from the running train at outer signal of Nandina station.

Local people caught docoit Selim while he was getting down from the train near Nandina station.

The alleged dacoit hailed from Vaitapara village in Nakhla upazila under Sherpur district. Injured Helal Uddin and Jahangir Alam were admitted into Jamalpur General Hospital in a critical condition.

A case was registered with Jamalpur GRP.
