Police, in different anticrime drives, rounded up 50 people on various charges from different areas in city and nine upazilas of the district in last 24 hours ending last evening.

Of them, 15 were nabbed from different areas in the metropolis while 35 others from nine upazilas.

Traffic police lodged eight cases under the motor vehicles ordinance during the drives against the non-registered motor vehicles and other document related malpractices in different parts of the city at that time.

BSS from Rangpur adds: Police arrested a total of 22 persons including suspected criminals on different charges from various places in the district during the past 24 hours till 12 noon on Sunday.

Police said the arrested persons included terrorists, drug traffickers, peddlers, drug addicts, gamblers and absconding accused from different places of the district. Police also recovered huge quantities of narcotics substances including ganja, phensidyl, locally produced wine, stolen goods and other illegal things during the drives.

Kotwali police arrested 16 persons, Gangachara two, Mithapukur three and Pirgacha police arrested one person during the period.

The arrested persons were sent to jail hajat when police produced them before different Rangpur courts today, police said.
