Floodwaters start receding in Rajbari BSS, Rajbari Floodwater started receding from different low-lying areas in Goalondo and Rajbari sadar upazila of the district. District Water Development Board (WDB) sources said the water level in the river Padma was flowing 32 cm above danger level at Goalondo point on Sunday morning. Meanwhile, river erosion is going on at different points in an unabated manner. The worst affected areas are Uttar Daulatdia, Debogram, Ujanchar and Daulatdia. A total of 35 families have been rendered homeless while a vast tract of plain land have been eroded, official sources said. A total of 100 acres of cropland eroded by the wave of the river Padma during last few days, it said. On the other hand, Char Silimpur, Char Sonakandor, Char Dunchi, Brachar Beninagar and Ramchandrapur are continuously eroding. Two government primary schools-Mohadebpur and Char Jowkura Government Primary School-are under threat. The erosion-hit families have taken shelter on embankment and near the railway track areas in Rajbari Sadar and Goalond upazila. District flood control and relief and rehabilitation office sources said, foods are being distributed among erosion hit families.
