Rabeya Khatun, mother of noted social worker Habibur Rahman Ratan, died of old age complications at the Sadar hospital on Tuesday night. She was 95, family sources said.

She left behind three sons, four daughters and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn her death. The namaz-e-janaza of Rabeya Khatun was held at Netrakona Central Jam-e-Mosque after asr prayers yesterday. She was buried at her family graveyard at Katli.

Leaders of different socio-cultural and political organisations and professional groups including former MP Fazlur Rahman Khan, former MP Sadiruddin Ahmed, mayor of Netrakona Pourasabha Nazrul Ilsam Khan, commander of Netrakona Muktijoddha Sangsad Haider Jahan Chowdhury, president of Udichi Shilpi Goshti Netrakona distirct unit Parimal Ray, president of Netrakona Reporters Club Humayun Kabir Salim, former secretary of Netrakona Press Club Faqrul Haque and editor of Dainik Jananetra Muklesur Rahman Khan expressed their deep shock at the death of Rabeya Khatun.
