4 killed, 20 hurt in B’baria road mishap

Four people, including a college teacher, were killed and 20 others injured as a bus rammed into a three-wheeler tempo at Ashuganj rail gate Thursday noon.

Police quoting witnesses said the Dhaka-bound bus hit a Biswa road-bound tempo from Ashuganj at about 12 noon killing four passengers on the spot and injuring 20 others.

Three of the dead were identified as Assistant Profes-sor Abul Basir, 44, of Shayestaganj College in Habiganj, Ful Miah, 50, and Liton, 28, while another deceased could not be identified immediately. They were the passengers of the tempo.

Of the injured, six were sent to Dhaka in critical condition while others received treatment from different local hospitals in Ashuganj and Sadar.

Deputy Commissioner M Abdul Hai and Police Super M Ataul Kibria visited the spot.
