Chuadanga poura poll: Election campaign gains momentum

Election in nine pourashavas of the country will be held on 4 August. Extenstive canvassing among competitors is going on in poura area of Chuadanga. Candidates are passing over sleepless night to expedite their election campaign. They are seeking vote from door to door. Discussion relating to election is going on in hotels, restaurants and shops.

Five candidates are competing for the post of chairman. They are Khondaker Abdul Gabbar Sona (BNP), Reazul Islam Gourder Toton (Awami League), Ekramul Haque Mukto, Anowar Hossain Correspondent (independent) and Syed Faruqueuddin are competing for the post of poura chairman.

It may be mentioned that Ashraf Ali, Advocate, a veteran Awami League leader won in the last poura election of Chuadanga. He is not competing in this term. At this, strong competition may be witnessed among the junior competitors. A few voters assume that position of Abdul Gabbar Sona (BNP) is better as two candidates practically face real competition between Khondaker Abdul Gabbar Sona and Reazul Islam Tobon. All candidates are trying to become trustworthy among the voters by dint of alluring assurance of development of Chuadanga poura area.

On the other hand, nine candidates for the post of three reserved women councillors and fifty-five candidates for the post of nine ward councillors are competing.

The election will be held here free and fair, locals said.
