Duck farming makes poor farmer self-reliant in Kurigram

Once upon a time a very poor man Azgor Ali has now become self reliant by rearing ducks in his local pond in Rajarhat upozila of Kurigram district. Three years ago Azgor Ali of the village Amtoli, under Rajarhat upozila of the district set up a duck farm with two hundred ducks. There are now two thousand and five hundred ducks in his farm at present.

He gets one thousand eggs daily and earns minimum Tk. 4000/- every day by selling them. He earns a very high amount of Taka ninety thousand per month after meeting his all demands. He told the Correspondent that the did not spend any money to feed his ducks. He at first keeps the duck (200 ducks) in the nearby canals and they live on mainly water hyacinths, water borne leaves and small fishes. He advises the unemployed youths to run duck farm for becoming self reliant. He is not well trained in this profession. Azgor wants to set up poultry and dairy farms in future. He has already become a successful figure for thus duck farm. Many people come to see his duck farm every day. The villagers of his village are following his policies of making duck farms in the locality. He said that he would be happy to offer all possible help to the people interested in running duck farm.
