I want to establish myself as a good actress.

I have not thought about it. But I am quite happy with television acting.

Artistes of Geeta Shatadal, a cultural organisation, presented 'Panchakobir Gaan' at the Poet Sufia Kamal Auditorium of the National Museum in the city recently.

The programme titled 'Aji tomay abar chai sonabare' featured the songs of Pancha Kobi - Rabindranath Tagore, DL Roy, Rajanikanta Sen, Atul Prasad Sen and Kazi Nazrul Islam.

Eminent Tagore artiste Kalim Sharafi inaugurated the musical presentation.

The soiree started by observing one-minute silence in memory of the late poet Samudra Gupta.

Artistes Banshari Dutta, Jayanti Roy, Reeta Majumdar, Ainun Nahar China, Suraiya Mojammel, Mita Paul, Sultana Shahriar Pieu, Shukla Roy, Meera Mandal, Lopa Khan and Sumaiya Farah Khan performed in the musical soiree.

Fashion: Nitya Upahar’s new outlet opens in city

Nitya Upahar, fashion house, inaugurated its second outlet at Chandrima Super Market in the city on Sunday.

The main aim of the new outlet will be to put the apparels with the artworks of the noted artists of the country on sale.

Aminul Islam Bulbul, former captain of Bangladesh cricket team, Badhon, Lux Channel I super star, Shahrukh Shaheed, fashion designer, Nirob, model, Bahar Rahman, Owner of Nitya Upahar, among others, were present on the occasion.

Sari, fatua, short-kamiz in yellow, orange, white, red, blue and green will be available within a reasonable price range in the outlet.

The motifs of the dresses include works of eminent artists like Quaiyum Chowdhury, Hashem Khan, Chandrashekhar Shaha, Dhrubo Esh and other young artists.

The artists have worked on the handloom saris produced in Tangail. They have also worked on the khadi on Chandina for fatua and short-kamiz.

Prices of saris vary from Taka 950 to 1,200. T-shirt for children is priced at Taka 130 and for adult at Taka 160. Prices of fatua, short-kamiz vary from Taka 300 to 500 and chador from Taka 450 to 600.

Bollywood: Deepika set to play a twin role in 'Chandni Chowk to China’

The long-legged lass of Bollynation, who seems to have the best of both worlds with her light-eyed boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor and top notch film banners backing her up, is all set to take on yet another 'twin' challenge role as she will be seen playing the role of a Chinese girl in her forthcoming flick 'Chandni Chowk to China'.

After starting out her career with a double role in Farah Khan's 'Om Shanti Om', Dips is all set to experiment with the twin role once again in Nikhil Advani's 'Chandni Chowk to China'.

Sharing screen space with Akshay Kumar, Deepika will be seen essaying the role of a Punjabi traditional girl during the first half while the second half will see her transforming into a Chinese

beauty. Not only is the divalicious babe going for an image makeover in the film, she will be also seen doing some jaw dropping action sequences.

Speaking to a news daily, Deepika said, "Yes it was extremely challenging. I did take up this film, as I would be doing action for the first time.

I must say that doing 'Chandni Chowk to China' is very exciting.

I wish I could say more about it. But as its release date is yet to be finalized I can't reveal anything more at this stage."
