Event: Benuka Lalitakala Academy celebrates 28 years

With the aim of promote young talent and establish them in the cultural field, Benuka Lalitakala Academy, a cultural organisation, was established in 1980.

To celebrate its 28 years, the organisation arranged a discussion meeting and cultural programme at the Jatiya Natyashala of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on July 27.

The whole programme was divided into three parts. In the first part, a discussion meeting was held.

Rasheda K Chowdhury, Adviser to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, was present as chief guest at the meeting, while Mohammad Sharful Alam, Secretary to the Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Bhuiyan Shafiqul Islam, Director General of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, were present as special guests on the occasion.

Abu Saleh, President of the Benuka Lalitakala Academy, chaired the programme, while Golam Mustafa Khan, Principal of Benuka Lalitakala Academy, among others, were present on the occasion.

In the second part, a cultural function was held performed by the students and teachers of the Academy.

With an Islamic song of Kazi Nazrul Islam 'Tomar naamer e ki nesha,' the cultural programme was opened.

Then the students and teachers of the Academy performed a classical song based on 'Raaga Bhupali.'

Later version of the popular song 'Dol dol doloni' was performed. Three dance performances by young performers of the Academy were staged at a time. The first performed with a patriotic song 'Baul ami ektarate bedhey nilam ghar' and next was a popular folk number 'Shadher lau banailo morey bairagi.'

Then artiste and teacher of the Academy Nusrat Jahan rendered a Rabindra Sangeet 'Pagla hawar badol dine.'

Noted Nazrul artiste and teacher of the Academy Lina Taposhi performed a Nazrul Sangeet 'Neel Jamunar jol' and artiste Mita Mustafa performed a Lalon song 'Kon khaney tar balam khana.'

In the third part, an Nritya Natya 'Roktolal Aohonkar' was staged. It was a compilation of 10 Nazrul Sangeet 'Akashey aj chhoriye dilam,' 'Ke dilo khopatey,' 'Tumi sundor tai cheye thaki,' 'O kalo shoshirey,' 'Naiyya dhirey chalao,' 'Mora chhinu ekela,' 'Karar oi lauho kopat,' 'Chol chol chol,' 'Kon kule aj bhirlo tori' and 'Nodir nam soi Anjona.'

After the Nritya Natya the programme was wrapped up with the enchantments from the audience.
