A disgruntled father today handed over his addicted son to police in Agailjhara upazila of the district.

Police sources said the father identified as Sarbananda Biswas of Kathira village called in local police to take into custody of his heroin addict son Richard Biswas.

Sarbananda Biswas was compelled to seek police help in the wake of relentless torturing by the son for paying drug money. An accused in cow lifting cases in the area Richard beat his parents once again before the arrest for drug money. Being informed, a team of Agailjhara police rushed to the village and arrested the heroin addict and then took him to the police station. Richard was also arrested earlier on similar charges, but escaped punishment for lack of witnesses.

Fraud manpower businessman sent to jail in Sunamganj

UNB, Sylhet

A fraud manpower businessman was sent to jail Tuesday a day after he was arrested from his house in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj district on charge of cheating many people. The arrested was identified as Anwar Ali, 32, son of Ala Box of Sherpur village in the upazila. Sources said Anwar received huge money from a number of people in Sylhet, Sunmanganj, Moulvi-bazar and Netrakona districts showing fake visas and documents to send them abroad for lucrative jobs.

Chhatak thana police arrested Anwar Monday night following a case filed with Netrokona Sadar police station district on April 1, this year.
