Event: Bangladesh Federation of Film Societies given film award ’06 Entertainment Report The Bangladesh Federation of Film Societies (BFFS) handed over the 'BFFS Film Award 2006' at Shaheed Zia Auditorium of the National Museum in the city on Friday. Mahbub Jamil, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, was present as chief guest, while veteran film director Soovas Dutt was present as special guest in the award giving ceremony. Morshedul Islam, President BFFS, said, "From now on, we will give the award every year." A five-member committee led by artist Mostafa Monwar announced the awards. The awards were given in 10 categories - best film award, best film director, best scriptwriter, best cameraperson, best editing, best music director, best actor, best actress, best documentary and lifetime achievement award. The best film award went to 'Antarjatra,' while Abu Sayeed received the best film director award for film 'Nirantar.' Humayun Ahmed received the best scriptwriter award for 'Nandita Narake,' while L Apu Rozario received the best cameraman award for film 'Khelaghar.' Filmmaker Catherine Masud won the best editing award for film 'Antarjatra,' while Herald Rashid and Buno received the best music director award for the same film. Actor Reaz and actress Shabnoor received the best actor and actress awards respectively. Filmmaker Tanvir Mokammel won the best documentary award for the documentary movie 'Bastra Balikara.' Cameraperson Afzal Hossain Chowdhury received the lifetime achievement award for his contribution in the film arena in the country. Later, film 'Antarjatra' by Tareque Masud and Catherine Masud was screened.
