It is surprising but true that Biman in its history for the first time advertised for their top-gun, Managing Director and Chief Executive officer. Although it comes as a great surprise, I would like to congratulate our present day government on this great occasion for taking such a bold step. It was only possible due the simple fact that it is an extraordinary type of care taker government which is backed by strong military essence. Although the advertisement came at a time when it is the most difficult task to turn around an airlines amid rocketing fuel price which is eating away 50% of the operating cost, it will be equally difficult to attract a foreign expatriate to take up such a gruesome job in the most difficult part of the world. Interestingly true, the qualifications sorted as requirement for the top job is although not an easy one to recruit by…nonetheless, there is a great hope. In this instance the government has to go extra mile which may sound revolutionary.

We hope someone with new leadership capacity will take up the job. However, we have to be careful also. Any Tom, Dick or Herry should not be picked up for the job on the plea of being a non-Bangladeshi as is done at the dictate of the fund lending agencies.
