A Special Court here on Thursday awarded two years' imprisonment to Awami League Presidium member Quazi Jafarullah for non-submission of his wealth statement to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Quazi Jafaullah, also a former lawmaker, was tried in absentia.

Judge Mohammad Ashraful Islam handed down the verdict in a case lodged by the ACC with Gulshan thana on March 19.

The punishment will be executed from the day he is arrested or surrenders to the concerned authority, the verdict said.
