Equipment used for voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) were seized in a pre-dawn drive by law enforcing agencies at Kathalbagan and Paribagh area in the city yesterday.

The team comprising officials of BTRC, RAB and other law enforcing agencies detected illegal VOIP business carried from House NO. 301 at Kathalbagan and House No. 12 Paribagh and seized equipment worth Tk 1 crore.

Team sources said equipment included 120 telluler of various models, 7 quantum gateway and 32 port channel bank.

A case was filed against Tipu Sultan for involvement in illegal VOIP business.

The Government had earlier formed a committee to probe telecommunication establishment.
