Electricity bills On average five to eight hours out of twenty-four hours daily there is no no electricity in different areas of our Dhaka City. The power supply is cut or there is load shedding. This is a common phenomenon. We are deprived of using our various domestical, commercial as well as industrial electric equipments, tools and machineries. After sun-set and in darkness we use candlesticks, hurricane lamps, IPS or generators. This cause us heavy sufferings and financial loss. We are greatly surprised and concerned that the amounts of our electricity bills are constantly increasing month after month instead of decreasing due to repeated non availability of electricity supply. Would DESA, PDB and Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources kindly clarify the matter in the interest of public service? Traffic jam and fly-overs Very often there are terrible and tumultuous road traffic jams at different places in new and old parts of Dhaka city like Sadarghat, Chowkbazar, Nawabpur-English Road square, Farm Gate, GPO, Malibagh, Bangla Motor corner, Govt. New Market Square, GPO, Elephant Road-Mirpur Science Laboratory corner, Malibagh, Gulshan No. 1 & 2, Ataturk Road-Dhaka Cantt square, Shapla Chottor Motijheel, Shanti Nagar-Kakrail crossing, Shabagh square, Eskaton square, Hotel Sheraton corner, Dhanmondi Road No. 27 corner, Sangsad Bhaban East road-Mirpur road corner, Elephant Road-Katabon square, Topkhana-Purana Paltan-Northeast Road, Hotel Sonargaon-Karwanbazar square, Motijheel-Ittefaq Office Corner, Dainik Bangla-Motijheel corner and so and so forth. As a result wastage of time and energy and the untold sufferings of the people know no bound. Can't our authorities concerned, planners and engineers build one, two or three storied fly overs at above mentions points for uninterrupted movement of motor vehicles all the times and to mitigage the sufferings of the people. We have built giant fly overs at Mohakhali and Khilgaon, planned Jatrabari-Gulistan fly over but later on cancelled and now considering another mammoth fly over from Jatrabari to Uttara. Is it not wise economical and useful to build small one, two and three storied fly over at different road squares and road corners consistant with our requirements? O. H. Kabir Dhaka
