A minor boy was beaten to death at Khamarpara village in Rangpur pourashava area on Thursday.

The dead was identified as Arif Hossain, 9, son of Ainul Haque. Local people said Shahidul, caretaker of the pond of Abu Taleb, and night guard Nazmul beat up Arif when he went to take a bath in the pond ignoring their prevention, leaving him dead on the spot.

Shahidul and Nazmul went into hiding soon after the incident. On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. A case was filed.
