Call to implement women dev policy to establish women’s rights RU Correspondent Bangladesh Mohila Parishad (BMP) central president Ayesha Khanam urged the government to implement the national women development policy-2008 for establishing women's rights. Earlier, Bangladesh Mohila Parishad (BMP) of RU unit held a discussion meeting on Women Movement of Bangladesh: Perspective National Women Development Policy 2008. Ayesha criticized the interim government for their silence on the street programmes fundamental groups carried out against the government's woman policy, clearly violating the state of emergency. She also criticized the government for their keep mum for the implement of the National Women Development Policy 2008 adding that the Policy is a main constitution for develop underprivileged women in Bangladesh. Earlier, the same fundamental forces create violence in the country and opposed for implement women development policy in Bangladesh. Stressing the need for consensus on women's issues, she said women's advancement is not possible if the mainstream progressive forces do not get united. Eminent economist Professor Sanad Kumar Saha asked the government opinion if they implement the policy and urged the progressive organization to be united for implement the policy. Eminent Literature Professor Hassain Azizul Haque said the government captured general peoples fundamental rights and the government supported the war criminal in many ways. 'Without ensure women rights in Bangladesh, democracy will not establish', he said. Speakers stressed that fundamentalist groups are using the woman policy in a bid to divert attention from the demand for the trial of war criminals. Speakers also urged the universities authorities to implement sexual harassment protection policy at university. Among others, Dr Mahbuba Kaniz Keya, general secretary and advocate Masuda Rahman, join secretary participated in the discussion. Shahanara Hossain, president of BMP presided over the meeting. Former RU VC Professor Abdul Khalque, advocate Golam Arif Tipu, language veteran Abdul Hossain, Mosharaff Hossain, university teachers, students and many women rights organization activists were took part. After the discussion, a drama 'Chowrasta' was performed. The drama directed by Anushilon drama group president Professor Moloy Kumar Bhowmik.
