A lawyer yesterday moved an petition before the Chamber Judge of the Supreme Court seeking permission to have a High Court order overturned that asked the government to reinstate 10 unconfirmed additional judges as regular judges of the High Court.

Supreme Court lawyer Ashrafuzzaman submitted the petition moved by senior Advocate TH Khan.

After a brief hearing, Chamber Judge Justice MA Matin referred the petition to the full bench of the Appellate Division for hearing on July 29.

On July 17, a 3-member bench of the High Court declared illegal and unconstitutional the government's decision of non-confirmation of the services of 10 additional judges of the High Court.

The High Court also asked the government to appoint them within a month.
