At least two passengers were killed and another 40 injured, 10 of them critically, in a road accident at Mundapasha in Ujirpur Upazila of the district on Tuesday evening.

Police identified the victims as Enayet Hossain (42) of Bikrampur of Dhaka district and Nazrul Khan (38) of Nalchiti Upazila of Jhalakathi district.

The critically injured passengers, admitted to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH), are: Jahir (22), Dulal Sikder (28), Nasir Sarder (38), Firoj (50), Abul Kalam (40), Kabir (18), Gouranga Chanda (48), Shariful Islam (30), Khokon (25) and Haroon (25).

Police seized the bus and sent the bodies of two victims to the SBMCH morgue for autopsy. A case was lodged with Ujirpur Thana in this connection.
