It is not ethical

On July 19, 2008, some national dailies and the online media showed horrid pictures of the two BDR men who were gunned down mercilessly by the BSF to the public. The Daily Star in particular published pictures of the two men on its front page, one whose face still had blood splatters and the other who had the peaceful stare of an empty soul. The publication of such pictures can only be described as reckless and incentive. Do the members of the media have no empathy towards the families of the brave men who have died defending Bangladesh? Is their urgency to shock and stir the public so great that they neglected to follow the ethical codes of conduct in journalism? Did the media ask permission from the family to show such lurid pictures right after they were brutally killed?

I find that such graphic images of the men, who actually defended Bangladesh, to be absolutely reprehensible. No respected newspaper in the world would publish such pictures of their men or women in uniform. When service men or women from the US or UK die in combat, they are portrayed in the best possible light - if pictures of any service member killed in combat is published in the media, it is always a prior pictures of him or her in smartly dressed military uniforms or in casual military fatigues. Did the media even bother to ask the BDR or the family for any old pictures of the men? I call on the newspapers who published those pictures to issue an apology to the family of the men who died and to the Bangladeshi people for such insensitive reporting.

Time for action

As a former student, I feel ashamed when everyday students make a head lines by protesting a bad evidence against a teacher. I think university should conclude as soon as possible by taking a wise decision. students are making movement, playing dramma, doing pothosova, blocking department and roads, continuous absent from class for this issue. Is it good for a fame of an one of the oldest university in a country? Why the university doesnt take proper measure for preventing this type of unwanted situation? Because already one teacher was sacked for same type of allegation. If they had taken proper measurement, at that time, then this unwanted situation would not happen again. So, I request university to take proper action on this particular issue, which can be able to gain its reputation which it losses continuously.
