Ershad reiterates demand for punishing corrupts BSS, Sylhet Jatiya Party Chairman and former president Hussain Muhammad Ershad today reiterated his call for punishing the corrupts saying the spirit of the 1/11 is to build a corruption-free Bangladesh. "The corrupt persons must be brought to justice as we want to prove Bangladesh as a corruption-free country," he said addressing a divisional council of Jatiya Party at Saifur Rahman Auditorium here. Chaired by JP Presidium Member Atiqur Rahman Atiq, the function was addressed, among others, by former Prime Minister and Presidium Member Kazi Jafar Ahmed, Secretary General A B M Ruhul Amin Howlader and former lawmaker Noor-e-Hasna Lily. Ershad said he was subjected to intimidation in the jail during the BNP rule. False charges were brought against him. But they are now in the jail for looting the orphans' property and bomb attacks, he said. The former military ruler said the country would be divided into eight provinces if his party assumes power and Sylhet would be the capital of a province. Sylhet is a resourceful area. So, he said, the decision for development of the area must be taken from here.
