Three persons were killed and 26 others injured in a road accident at Bhagamor area on Bagerhat-Mongla road here this afternoon.

Police said the accident took place when a Khulna-bound passenger bus from Mongla lost control and plunged into a market.

The dead were identified as Sheikh Nurul Islam of Rampal, Manjur Rahman of Malidanga, and Bisnuprashad Adhikari of Kalekharber village. Vehicular movement remained stopped on the road for an hour after the accident.

The mob seized the killer bus and its driver and helper, and handed them to police.

Deputy Commissioner Shahidul Islam and Superintendent of Police AKM Shahidul Islam visited the spot.

Among the injured, 11 were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital and 14 to Rampal Hospital.
