New WFP representative presents credentials UNB, Dhaka The new Represntative of the World Food Programme John Aylieff presented his credentials to Foreign Adviser Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury at the Foreign Ministry Thursday morning. The Foreign Adviser welcomed the new representative and thanked the WFP for the support received from the agency in the aftermath of last year's floods and cyclone Sidr, said a press release. The WFP Representative highly praised the preparedness of the Bangladesh Government during those crises that "saved so many lives." He said Bangladesh's disaster-preparedness was a "model worthy of emulation by others." Dr. Iftekhar Chowdhury explained Bangladesh's current food policy particularly the 'safety nets' to ensure 'vulnerable group feeding'. The WFP Representative assured the Foreign Adviser of every support to the Government's programme in future. "The WFP played a good cooperative role in the past, as I am sure they will in the future," the Foreign Adviser told the media afterwards.
