Pass percentage vs standard

This year the pass percentage of the SSC Examination is relatively higher than the immediate past years.

Asigning reasons to such a big push in pass-percentage the Education Adviser (to the CTG) Dr. Hossain Zillur Rahman said it has so happened because of the fact that this year the examinees did better in both Math and English - in which they traditionally did worse in the past.

The EA also said that because of the strong anti-mass copying stand of the immediate past Khaleda administration the students had no option but to engage in studies seriously (thanks to Dr. Hossain Zillur for acknowledging at least one good work of Begum Khaleda regime) and it has now worked well.

But the learned EA has not confirmed one thing with firmness - that the standard of education has reached a higher height. And that is the point of our worriness. Because, high percentage (in all or any public examination) is not a guarantee to higher standard of education.

As the Chief Education Executive of the country Dr. Hossain Zillur will endeavour to make some mark in the sector so that someone will also praise his work of success in the future days. We hope Dr. Zillur shall not dishearten the nation.
